活動內容簡介

回想起多年前以家用打印機嘗試印刷自己的旅行照，到近年成為專注於印刷相片的孔版油印(risograph)工作室，過程中研究如何用油墨顏色、前製效果、及紙張材料等，訴說每張照片的故事，還有因誤印而獲得創靈感。

就在這分享會娓娓道來當中的驚喜。

Recalling the years spent trying to print my travel photos with a 3-in-1 inkjet printer at home, to establishing a risograph studio focused on photo printing, I have explored how ink colors, pre-press manipulations, and paper materials can narrate the story behind each photo. Occasionally unexpected printing errors also sparks inspirations on image making and recreation.

The sharing session will reveal the surprises and discoveries encountered along the way.

講者簡介 Speaker Introduction

Alex Lau，畢業於香港理工大學設計系，主修視覺傳意設計。

2018年開始以孔版油印(risograph)印製相片及小誌，並參與世界各地的藝術書節。一年後創立the memory machine，以創作來探索生活、記憶與記錄的關係。

2021年成立孔版油印創作室，與攝影師和藝術家合作，限量印製影像為主的藝術書及版畫。

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Alex Lau received a BA (Hons) in Visual Communication from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Design.

From 2018, Alex began printing photographs and making publications with risograph duplicator. Throughout the years, he has been participating in local and international art book fairs, including Shanghai, Taipei, and Tokyo. The following year he founded the memory machine as a personal creative journey to explore relationships between everyday life and memory.

In 2021, he started his own creative risograph studio to collaborate with artists and photographers, in co-creating photo-books and editioned prints.

組織簡介 Organisation Introduction

the memory machine始於Alex Lau在影像、傳統手工技術和製書之間的個人探索。2018年起使用數位孔版印刷機印刷照片和製作出版物。2021年成立孔版油印創作工作室，從印刷技術及藝術製作過程兩方面探索孔版油印的潛力。工作室亦與藝術家和攝影師合作，共同創作藝術家書籍和版畫。

the memory machine started as a personal exploration between images, low-tech printing, and book-making by Alex Lau. From 2018, he began printing photographs and making publications with a risograph duplicator. In 2021, the project transformed into a creative studio to explore the potential of risograph in terms of a printing technique, as well as an artistic process. The studio also collaborates with artists and photographers, in co-creating artists’ books and editioned prints. Some of the pieces have been exhibited globally in galleries and museums
