LAW Wai-cheung, also known as Ah Cheung, was a stalwart in Hong Kong’s history of disability advocacy. Born with quadriplegia, Ah Cheung never let his disability define him or limit his potential. He dedicated his life to pursuing independent living while tirelessly fighting for disability rights.

“Despite being born with a disability and lacking resources, he never let that stop him from learning and helping others in need,” said Ruby Yang. “His close relationship with his mother deeply resonated with me.” Ruby Yang believes Ah Cheung’s life story reflects the resilient spirit of Hong Kong and deserves to be widely recognised.

Director So Ka Ue documented Ah Cheung’s daily life up close during his final two years, recounting stories of his incredible journey. She collaborated with Wong Weng Chon (John Wong), an award-winning animation director from Macau, to re-enact Ah Cheung's early life and the profound bond between him and his mother.

The film also highlights the evolution of disability rights in Hong Kong over the decades. Ah Cheung’s story, along with his spirit and vision, is an inspiration for generations to come.
