Location: Asia Art Archive 亞洲藝術文獻庫. Hong Kong SAR

Welcome to our workshop designed to support IB DP Visual Arts teachers! Join us for 3 days of learning and collaboration as we explore innovative ways to teach and engage students in the DP Visual Arts curriculum. This event will provide valuable resources and strategies to help you enhance your teaching practice and inspire your students. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with fellow educators and expand your teaching toolkit. See you there!

NOTE: We chose Eventbrite to help us with our ticket sales, but unfortunately, it is not easily accessible for all. I am sorry for that.

If you would like to attend and are having frustrations with booking through this platform, please email me directly (amyatkinson@cdnis.edu.hk).

We were inspired to develop this workshop to share tried and true DP VA practices and knowledge, give you access to DP VA resources, create opportunities for community and sharing with other DP VA teachers all the while looking ahead and navigating the coming possibilities of the updated curriculum.

These hands-on sessions, led by DP VA educators with extensive experience, are designed to elevate your DP VA teaching practice, heighten your knowledge of available resources, network with other DP VA teachers, and ensure you feel more prepared to step into your DP VA classroom with confidence

Location:

AAA incorporates material that members of local art communities find relevant to the field, and provides educational and public programming.

Artist Workshop:

Hong Kong artist Kith Tsang Tak Ping is an educator and farmer, working across art education, practice, curation, research and criticism. Tsang has exhibition internationally and was Associate Professor at HK Polytechnic University’s School of Design for 24 years.

During the ‘Encountering Time’ weekend workshop, you will:

  • Elevate your understanding of the current DP VA curriculum, how the 3 components can work together, and how to pace the 2 year learning experience.
  • Explore and unpack proposed changes to the DP VA curriculum and how to use your current experience to navigate the proposed changes.
  • Learn and experience strategies to elevate DP VA student submissions from experienced (current) DP VA educators
  • Explore the vast resources of the Asia Art Archive and be inspired by Hong Kong artists, creating opportunities for your DP VA students to reach beyond the Western cannon.
  • Get actionable resources to support your DP VA teaching.

Whether you are a new or seasoned Visual Arts teacher, you are well aware that unpacking the current IB DP VA curriculum takes time to consider, marinate, and simmer. Add to that the thought of teaching the newly updated syllabus (being released in February 2025) bringing in a barrage of more questions: What are the updates and changes? What remains? How will I structure my course?
