Biography :

Born in India, Alka has lived in the U.S. since the age of nine. She has a BA from Stanford University and an MFA from California College of Arts. She was a New York Times Bestseller and a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub Pick. Jaipur Trilogy was longlisted for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize and translated into 29 languages, it’s in development as an episodic series. Alka was selected as Forbes Magazine’s “50 Over 50” women shattering age and gender norms. Her fourth novel, Six Days in Bombay, releases April 15, 2025.

This talk will cover the writings of Alka Joshi, the internationally bestselling author of the Jaipur Trilogy: The Henna Artist, The Secret Keeper of Jaipur and The Perfumist of Paris. A new writer at age 50, Alka shatters age and gender norms in the industry. Her debut novel, The Henna Artist, immediately became a New York Times bestseller and a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub Pick. It has been translated into 29 languages and is currently in development as a Netflix TV series.
