What is MHFA?

MHFA is an internationally accredited qualification that provides lay people with practical guidelines and protocols to assess and directly help those experiencing or developing a mental health problem or crisis. The MHFA course will be facilitated by certified MHFA instructors. There will be role-plays and group discussions for practices. Participants will receive a set of Standard MHFA course material and will be awarded a certificate upon 100% attendance.

The Standard MHFA Course will cover:

  • Basic knowledge about common mental health problems and related crisis situations
  • What you can do as a lay person and when to seek professional help
  • MHFA action plan (ALGEE)
  • How to provide early intervention and manage mental health problems and related crisis as a first responder
    • Managing depression and suicide situations
    • Managing anxiety problems and panic attacks
    • Managing substance use problems
    • Managing psychosis related problems
  • Identify resources available in the local community

You will receive a free entry ticket to our upcoming Mental Health 101 Webinar scheduled 4 July, 18:00-19:00, if you register for this MHFA Course. The Zoom link for this free webinar will be emailed to you 3 days prior to the course start date.

Course pricing:

  • Regular Ticket: HKD 1,200
  • Sponsored Ticket: HKD 900 (No invoice will be issued. Receipts will be shown on Eventbrite’s registration email.)
  • Concession Ticket: HKD 750 (Applicable to full-time staff of approved IRD S88 tax-exempt charities and full-time student only. Please email us a copy of your work ID or student ID at training@mind.org.hk to access the concession code. If you are unsure about eligibility, please contact training@mind.org.hk.)

Certification:

You will be awarded an MHFA certificate upon 100% attendance.

  • Please register online via this Eventbrite page. Please make sure you enter accurate information for registration. We will use the registered name you input on Eventbrite to print the certificate.
  • We will not accept any changes after the start of the course.
  • You can apply for a refund to this registration via Eventbrite 1 week before the start of course.
  • This course is open to those who are currently located in Hong Kong only.
  • Participants have to be aged 18 or above.
  • Limited spots. Registration is first-come-first-served.
