Videotage Screening - “Phosphor in the Room” | 錄映太奇放映 -《其中有像》

From point and line to plane and then the reverse, images emerge in the mind—conscious and unconscious, back-and-forth, fragmented, circuitous, hesitant, and disjointed. Like watching a fleeting landscape from the window of a high-speed train or piecing together fragments of a map when one is lost—clues leading to an unknown place, between hints of coherence. Glimmering pinholes, hurried scribbles, hazy patches of colours, mist, extreme close-ups, lines, and points, seeping into a bleary vision as faint outlines imprint themselves on the retina.

This screening programme showcases nine video works from the Videotage Media Art Collection, spanning from 1987 to 2019, alongside two recent video works as special highlights. Featuring 11 participating artists, the programme transcends conventional uses of recorded footage, liberating images from their confines. Through deconstruction, reconstruction, expansion, and reinterpretation, the works transform fragmented thoughts into a journey along the edges of consciousness. After the screening, artist Welainej will deliver a live sound performance to extend the visual journey of the past hour, translating it into an auditory exploration.

點、線、面，面、線、點。腦海中隱隱浮出畫面，那些有意識的，無意識的，來來回回的，斷斷續續的，轉彎抹角的，欲言又止的，前言不搭後語的。就像搭乘子彈火車，看著窗外掠過的風景；像迷路時拾到地圖的幾塊碎片，雖不知通往何處，但似乎行得通。滲出粼光的圓孔、若徐若疾的筆觸、朦朧的色塊、迷霧、特寫、線、點。眼簾徐徐打開，惺忪之際，感覺有些殘影烙在視網膜上。

本次放映節目精選自錄映太奇庫藏中1987至2019年的九部錄像作品，以及兩部近期創作的錄像作品。十一位藝術家以想像突破鏡頭下的客觀陳述，打破影像慣性的閱讀，將聲畫素材解構、重組、延展、拉闊、解碼，並化作段段囈語，遊走於意識的邊緣。放映後藝術家 Welainej 將帶來現場聲音表演，在黑暗中以聽覺延續過去一小時的視覺遊歷。
